The BLS Instructor Essentials Course is designed to prepare instructor candidates to teach AHA Instructor-led and blended learning BLS Provider courses. It educates instructor candidates on how to use AHA Instructor teaching materials, ensure that students meet learning objectives, offer student coaching skills, provide an objective skills performance evaluation, and follow AHA Instructor and course policies. The course covers core content and discipline-specific content required to teach AHA courses.
After completing the online portion of this course, you must complete a hands-on session with an AHA Training Center to obtain a course completion card. This course is the hands-on session.
Instructor materials are inclued in the price of the course.

If you are a UMMC Employee, depending upon your department, you may or may not be responsible for payment. RTC staff will cross reference your department with your employee number and send payment invoices to the indicated party. If your department pays for you, we will bill through journal entry. If your department does not pay for your certification, you will be responsible for the course charges. If you have questions regarding payment responsibility, please contact your supervisor.
